In addition to letting me take pictures, my new camera takes nice HD videos too. Here are a couple of after and before videos of Jonathan Stout at ILHC last Saturday night.
The crowd was super hot after the killer Champions Strictly Final. They turned the medium tempo song that the band played right after the contest ended into a jam. So Jonathan gave them what they wanted and busted the band into "Jammin' The Blues." If the tune is familiar, it might be because I spotlighted the lead singer and dancer of the short film of the same name earlier this year.
I didn't feel like jostling through the crowd to check out the jam, but I thought I'd take advantage of being up front by the band. Hopefully someone will post the dance part so I can see what I missed. And maybe some intrepid soul will marry the two perspectives.
I think missing the jam was worth just to watch and hear Campus 5 drummer, Josh Collazo. Josh s one of the best swing drummers in the world. He's also used to playing big time Lindy events including Camp Hollywood and Camp Jitterbug. He even led his own band at the first two Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdowns.
BONUS FEATURE!
Before the dance started I took some video of the sound check mostly to see how well my camera could take videos. I got some rare clips of Jonathan playing drums along with the piano player he hired for the evening, local band leader, Craig Gildner who plays guitar here.
